Newhaven & Seaford Sea Cadets (TS Defiance)

Unit 442 of the Sea Cadet Corps

Welcome to our 'Get Involved' microsite. Here are just a few ideas on how you can become involved with our Sea Cadet Unit.

Our unit is it's own registered charity, we do not receive funding from the Royal Navy, all of our members are volunteers.

Without kind donations and our volunteers who give up their own time we would not exist. So thank you!

Volunteer Unit Assistants & Instructors

We are looking for enthusiastic people to give up a few hours most weeks to assist the instructors with our cadets on various topics. There will be opportunity if you wish to train as an instructor yourself.

You don't need to have served in the Navy, attended Sea cadets as a child or even any experience of sailing! You just need to be willing and engaging.

Our unit parades every Monday and Friday 7pm to 9pm at TS Defiance in Newhaven.
You will not need to attend every parade night.

Alternatively you could volunteer to just assist with driving the cadets to their many training weekends across the south coast (travel expenses provided), or maybe help with our unit's maintenance and upkeep.

There are a lot of opportunities to be involved, for more information email or click the 'more info' link.

Volunteer Unit Trustees / Management Committee

We have opportunities for new members on our Management Committee who are responsible for providing the facilities for our Cadets, Instructors & Volunteers. We also have some role specific trusteeships such as :

• Fundraising Trustee - Head of managing our fundraisers
• Fundraiser Trustee - Help to impliment ideas for fundraising.

You will be involved in giving input, direction and making decisions for the units future. You will need to be available to attend the occasional meeting.

No previous experience of Sea Cadets or being a trustee is needed.

For a list of opportunities to be involved on our management team email or click the 'more info' link.
